President Obama issued a Presidential Proclamation on August 31st declaring September 2010 as National Wilderness Month and "...invite(s) all Americans to visit and enjoy our wilderness areas, to learn about their vast history, and to aid in the protection of our precious national treasures."

American Hiking is proud to be a founding member and the fiscal sponsor of the newly formed National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance, whose aim is to become a vital center for wilderness stewardship groups to support each other and to help foster new groups to protect our enduring wilderness resource.
